Truckload of Waffles

Did someone say waffles? And wait, did someone say truck? That’s right! There’s a new food truck in town and it is selling waffles! Strawberry, nutella, caramel, oreo, banana, maple syrup – choose an individual flavour, or team two of them together. The pricing remains the same – 100 bucks for a full waffle and 60 bucks for a half. And if you want to team two together, caramel-banana would be the best choice and will make you go Wow-ffles! They also sprinkle cinnamon on the top!

I am really thanking the dream gods for this and you will too! A year back, Henny saw a dream in which he saw himself owning a food truck and serving people with his own recipes. It was only then that he decided to venture out into making this dream a reality. What did he name it? Henny’s! Yes, that’s what this little wonder on wheels is called. A customized Tempo Traveller, the fun and chirpy-looking Henny’s Food Truck is seen heading to the Raheja Garden road in Wanowrie, every evening around 7 pm, and that’s where Henny and friends set up the shop. It’s been six days and the buzz about their little new business has already spread around the area. It is no wonder then that you see people hovering around the area the moment the clock strikes six, waiting for Henny to come around and open shop. And why won’t they? Whether your wait is for ten minutes, or for a good 45 minutes, which it normally goes up to, the fresh and crispy waffles make it totally worth it.

If you happen to pass around that road once our young man, Henny, has opened the windows, you can get the whiff of delicious fresh waffles. Try as hard as you may, but you simply cannot help yourself from stopping by and knowing what all the hype is about. Between 7 pm to 11 pm, there’s a bunch of people of all ages waiting for their orders, there’s a boy who’s been coming regularly since Day 1, there’s an old jolly couple with their cute little Beagle, Gucci, and there are friends of Henny’s taking orders for waffles and telling curious passers-by what the setup is all about. Yes, it’s as sweet a picture as it sounds. Henny’s truck has created a small little family on the road, a family that comes together to share their common love for waffles.

I felt honoured to receive the first ever waffle prepared that evening, all thanks to the really sweet guy, Amit, who was taking everyone’s orders and calming them down while their food arrived. Amit also happens to be a friend of mine and was kind enough to get me a free waffle! I got half of my waffle topped with banana-caramel+whipped cream and the other half with nutella+whipped cream. I highly recommend both of them; I definitely have to add that the banana+caramel was simply out of the world! It really did make my day after my tiring schedule.

“We were sold out for all the five days that we’ve been around and we are extremely overwhelmed with the kind of response we are getting. We plan to start burgers and sandwiches soon!” said Henny, who was busy whipping cream on the waffles as he spoke.

I genuinely wish for the best for Henny and team because they totally deserve it! And after I have rambled so much about it already, do I still need to tell you try it? Just go, NOW!
