Mexican Delight at Chinita

Nachos are everyone’s favourite and the amount of restaurants you can go visit to have them is innumerable! But if you want to have some Real Mexican Food and gorge on to tacos, burritos or tostadas, Chinita in Indiranagar is the place to be!

To be honest, the first look of the place and the interiors were a little disappointing for me since I had heard a lot of good things about this place and not everything lived up to the picture of it I had in my head. When it came to the ambiance, this place was just average. The space was not too big and was laid out with basic wooden tables. Five wall paintings filled up one wall and adjacent to that were open shelves with potted plants. The menu, however did manage to cover some exquisite and authentic Mexican specialties. Apart from the regular dishes, they had a black board that listed ‘Today’s Specials’, which provided more options to choose from.

We started with my favourite dish, nachos, which were topped with pieces of beef. I must say they do serve generous quantities and all the melted cheese made the preparation absolutely yummy! Next, we had the Chicken Tostadas, which, apart from their round shape, looked exactly like the nachos, and were as delicious. To try out something healthy, we ordered the Grilled Corn, which is served with grated cheese and chilly powder. This is basically the same corn that you can buy at a roadside for 20 bucks but is charged at a price of 175 bucks here just because it is served to you at a restaurant with some cheese. I don’t know if it was just me, but the cheese with the corn really didn’t do it so the dish turned out to be quite disappointing. I’d rather just stick to the roadside bhaiyya roasting the corn for me.

For dessert, we decided to try Churros with Chocolate Sauce. It tasted amazing with all the chocolate sauce and was undoubtedly my favourite dish of the whole meal. These were all the dishes I could try at one go since I was quite stuffed. However, I did spot some interesting preparations on the menu and would definitely want to go back to try those!
