Winter is coming! In fact, it’s here already. Yes, I know that more than the actual season, it is Game of Thrones that this line reminds all of us of. But along with that, winter is the time for lovely, warm clothes, Christmas celebrations, and, of course, preparing that list of resolutions you are never going to end up following. Along with these happy things, one more thing that is going to make you happier this season is the New Winter Menu at Krusty’s! I was invited by them to try out the dishes and I am going to tell you about the ones you simply do not want to miss.
We started of with the appetizers, which, I’d say, were better than the main course. The starters consisted of Ricotta & Herb Stuffed Crepe Rolls, Chicken Skewers, and Bacon Cheesecake. The dish that topped my list of favourites and was an absolute delight, was the cheesecake! You are going to love this dish since you most probably fall in any of these three categories: 1) You like bacon 2) You like cheese 3) You like bacon and cheese, both! I mean, who could say no to a bacon cheesecake? Unless, of course, you’re vegetarian. Served beautifully, this dish will fill you up but will always keep you asking for more. The crepe rolls were made like spring rolls and proved to be an interesting way of having crepes; the chicken skewers were a little too spicy for my taste buds, but would appeal to some.
Next, we had the Mushroom & Spinach Pizza and the Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli. I’d totally recommend both these dishes! Not only because, personally, I am a big fan of spinach, but also because the pizza is a great choice for a quick bite and the ravioli was really well prepared. For main course, we had three dishes presented to us – Sundried Tomato Polenta with Pesto Cream, Stuffed Chicken Breast, and Pan Seared Red Snapper with Citrus. The ultimate dish out of the three was the Red Snapper! The citrus flavour was blended so well with the fish, that with every bite, it was like a splash of fresh lemon in your mouth. Also, the lemon was added in just the right amount, giving it just the perfect tangy flavour. The polenta was presented very beautifully and tasted good too, but that cornmeal base has never appealed to me. Stuffing the chicken breast was an interesting way of preparing it; the chicken was well cooked but the saffron leek mousse was slightly more salty than required. I would not order it again.
Our meal ended with a pretty looking Lemon & White Chocolate dessert. I think Krusty’s has a thing with lemon; they never go wrong with it. It melted in the mouth and went well with the chocolate parfait.
The best part about the Krusty’s at Koregaon Park is that it is extremely easy to locate. The staff is friendly, music is good, and they also have few board games such as Scrabble, Snakes and Ladders, etc. in case you need something more than chatting and gossiping to while your time away. I, personally, love places that keep games. Overall, the place has a happy vibe and I think you must visit it to give this new menu a try, especially if you love fish!
