Beer is a culture. It brings people together, it is a great kick-starter for conversations and well, proves to be a great way to relax and unwind after a long day. While the likes of Kingfisher and Corona are popular options among all, freshly brewed beer has a charm of its own and comes in a wide variety of flavours. Bangalore is a city of passionate beer drinkers and foodies! And why wouldn’t it be? With a large number of microbreweries in the city brewing beer for all kinds of pallets, anybody would be spoilt for choice! Here is a list of five of the breweries in the city which you just cannot miss:

With a flavour of beer for each taste, this huge microbrewery has different options such as Wheat Beer, Belgium Ale, Dark Ale, Stout, etc. As tempting as all of them sound, you need to leave them all aside and first try the Phat Abbot! Light, flavourful and super easy on the stomach, this beer is easily one of the best in all of Bangalore. There are some amazing dishes to go along with your beer in the 10-page food menu, but their Loaded Nachos are to die for.

If sipping on a glass of brewed beer while watching a Jazz band perform live sounds like something you’d enjoy, this brewery is where you’d want to spend most of your time at. Weekly live performances with some brilliant beers such as Hefeweizen, Stout and Indian Pale Ale make this place a favourite amongst Bangaloreans despite its faraway location. Beef Picante and Mushroom Cheese and Bread are dishes that are a must-try!

Every citizen of Bangalore or even someone who has been briefly associated with it will tell you that this is the brewery you absolutely must visit! Set up inside a beautiful three-storey mansion, it serves the best Pepperoni Pizza ever! Toit Weiss is a great option for light beer drinkers, while Irish Red Ale and Dry Stout are choices for the ones who’d prefer something strong. They also introduce seasonal flavours such as Mango and Jack Fruit, depending on the time of the year.

One of the newest breweries in town, this place has an outside seating area around a pool. Yes, fancy much! Enjoy the fresh breeze as you sip on a glass of Commercial Stout, Richmond Ale or German-style Brigade Lager, some of the top picks out of the lot. Get the Meat-Eater’s Platter to go with your drinks, it is loaded with delicious Calamari, Prawn, Kebabs and Grilled Butter Fish and is ah-mazing!

5) Prost:

Prost is German for ‘cheers’ and having a fresh glass of brewed beer at this place is definitely going to keep your spirits up as you say ‘cheers’! Apple Cider, Prost Special, Jona’s Fave and Wheat Beer are some of their classics which the folks of Bengaluru love to indulge in. Food is not exactly their forte as compared to a lot of other breweries but they have some good pizza and pasta. The Egg Fritters are delicious!
