Have you ever experienced that feeling where you go to a restaurant and eat its food and the first thing you want to do is to go and give the chef a tight kiss? At the expense of sounding creepy, I have! Multiple times. And a lot of those times were at Elephant and Co gastropub. Known for its delicious and experimental cocktails, this bar has been one of my favourites since the time it opened its gates last year in May. From then till now, they have tried to experiment with a lot of dishes, bringing in fun elements such as serving teriyaki chicken in a bowl made out of a real pineapple. However, not all of them received the response they expected.
If you want to learn more about Psychology and Human Behaviour, talk to someone who goes around the world meeting different people and not someone who goes by the books. If you want to know more about Science, speak to someone who has experienced real beauty amid the vastness of nature and not someone who does not step out of the science lab. If you want to learn more about Geography, take a look at a traveler’s bucket list and not an Atlas. If you want to know more about Art, speak to someone who has learned the art of traveling, and not somebody who uses a classroom to bring out your inner creative self. Our next #Forker is that someone! Say hello to Tanveer Taj!
What is good health? Good health can be achieved by eating right, sleeping for adequate hours and maintaining a clean and hygienic body. But how many of us actually manage to accomplish all of this? With my late working hours, insomniac nature and unhealthy eating habits, I know I absolutely don’t! So I decided to give my body some pampering and care in the form of a massage. This form of Ayurvedic massage, popularly known as Abhyanga or Abyangam, is one of the most important massages for achieving good health and longevity. It also helps to prevent aging, reduces fatigue and diminishes other harmful effects caused to our bodies during the course of our hectic routines.
You know that feeling when you really want to grab a drink at the end of the day but are lazy to step out because it involves traveling a few kilometers? Everyone does! You then probably cancel the plan and decide to sit at home and watch a movie. But imagine waking up one day and realizing that there is a new bar right next door where you can drop by for a few quick drinks along with yummy bites! Yes, NIBM’s newest gastro pub, Beto’s, is the perfect example of a boon in disguise for its residents.
After almost a decade of being hosted in one of India’s most loved holiday destinations, Goa, the year 2016 saw it being held in the quaint yet lively city of Pune! Music lovers from all over came together at the 30 acres of space at Sunburn Hills located in Kesnand. The event was organised for four days from 28th Dec to 31st Dec 2016, giving music-lovers a chance to spend new years eve amid their favourite bands and music. Not to deny that being its first time in Pune, the event did see a lot of mismanagement. The crowd struggled to trek up to the hill and dodge the long queues to get hold of their bands. However, performances by some great artists managed to make up for the crowd’s discontent.
The art of baking is beautiful. It is like nurturing a baby. The more love, care and affection a baker shows towards his/her product, the better the final outcome turns out to be. Some bakers enjoy baking for their better halves or children, some like to pursue it as a weekend hobby. And then there are home bakers who practice the art of baking and run their own little businesses. Each of these individuals is an entrepreneur in his/her own little way! When a product that was created with a lot of patience, hard work and energy sells in the market, the level of satisfaction one gets is definitely high. Our next #Forker is someone who conducts baking workshops and motivates these young entrepreneurs to go after their dreams. Yes, we are referring to the beautiful Ruhee Bhimani, founder of Cocoa Cottage and a Masterchef specialising in eggless baking.
College days are all about dreaming about several things and wanting to make it big in the real world. “Let’s grow up and live together!” “Let’s grow up and start a company together” A lot of times, the best ideas tend to pop up at 3 am on a night of drinking. “Let’s grow up and open a bar together!” If you love alcohol, this idea has definitely crossed your mind at some point in time or the other. Our next set of #Forkers is a trio who actually made such an idea happen! Their teenage minds had this idea hovering in them since the time they were 18. And today, at the young age of 25, they have set up one of Pune’s most loved bars and have been running it successfully for the past six months. Yes, we are talking about none other than Elephant and Company and the boys who started it, Karan Khilnani, Anuj Solanki and Karan Kulkarni! Situated in the heart of Kalyani Nagar, Elephant and Company is essentially a cocktail-bar with some good food and music to go with. We got in touch with Karan Khilnani to get an insight into the journey so far.
Something about this place made me relate it to the boy next door. Modest, charming, not trying too hard but still very confident of what it wants to offer! A bar that has been around since a few months now but is quite hidden amidst so many other things happening in the middle of Lane 6 and Lane 7, The Bar and Eatery has the potential to instantly make it to your list of favourites in the city!
All of you have considered traveling solo at some point of time or the other in life. The rising influence of social media channels bombards you with posts about traveling and ‘finding yourself’ every now and then and encourages you to leave your stable 9 to 5 job and take off. But it’s not as easy as it sounds! Travel involves money, a lot of it. It involves planning, you can’t make the best of your trip if you haven’t spent days doing R&D about the place. And it requires you to be brave! To be ready to take on whatever comes your way. The Instagram and Facebook pictures uploaded after a solo trip focus only on the good parts. But every trip has its ups and downs and is no less than a crazy roller coaster ride.
Who doesn’t love burgers? The experience of subjecting yourself to a mouthful of yummy patty (or patties) stuffed between a fresh bun along with occasional flavours of toppings and sauces is a preparation that only some can refuse. The best part about burgers is that you don’t exactly know what is coming in your next bite! There is an element of surprise; you know there is going to be a patty but it might come along with a big chunk of cheese, a super crispy patty outer covering, an jalapeno covered in mayonnaise or a chunk of fried onions with masala. Yes, I’m totally drooling while writing this! And you are going to too after reading about these 10 burgers in Bangalore which will take you to food paradise every time you have them:
